THE SUBJECT MATTER OF SONGS USED FOR TELEVISION AND FILM

This posts is for the composers either already signed with the Unifik Music Co or those who might be interested in having their music used in TV and film. It's usually simple information that can mean the difference between having to work a 9 - 5 job and living a life of freedom allowing you to do what you want to do, whenever you feel like doing it! Here's some info to educate those interested in maximizing their income from the music game!

Songs that are placed in TV shows and Films are used to enhance plot lines. Typically the lyric of the song, if the song is a vocal song, will have a correlation with what is happening in the story and the characters in the scene. Central to almost all stories are relationships. Whether someone is falling in love, falling out of love or longing for love, just like in our real lives, relationships play a big role in both TV shows and Films. It goes without saying then that there are a lot of needs for songs about relationships. There are of course many exceptions, just as there are when it comes to the styles of music being placed, but there will always be a need for relationship songs.

When I first started working with my current publisher she sent me a list of guidelines for writing in the TV/Film idiom. One of her suggestions for writing songs that have a good overall chance of being used was to write relationship songs. Songs about relationships can be used in a variety of productions since most stories are about relationships.

For those of you who haven't heard yet, I've recently taken an offer to help run a high end retail store which just opened a few weeks ago. The name of the store is Platinum Collections and we sell a myriad of products that include jewelry, electronics, cars, clothing, artwork, and even gear for your pets! We also have concierge/membership services offering our clients access to private jets, yachts, exotic cars, limos, exclusive events, hotels, etc.

It's been an amazing couple of weeks since we've been open. Our grand opening was held on March 22 and since then, we've had some of the most interesting people walk through our doors. From Charger's players to musicians such as San Diego's own P.O.D, Michael Jordan, C.E.O.s of successful businesses, celebrity entertainers, dogs, cats, and everything in between! It's a great environment to meet all the right people that basically make San Diego what it is and I'm very happy to be a part of it!

And for those who were wondering...YES, I'm still running the Unifik Music Company. So don't worry, the entertainment we produce is here to stay and it will be for a very long time!
